Handcrafted Medicine Bag...

I've been working on this Medicine Bag for quite awhile.  Today it is complete.  Traditionally used to hold various items of supernatural power: special stones, animal fur, tobacco or healing herbs, totems, fetishes, magical tokens and blessings, all items having significant meaning to the owner!  No person, apart from the owner, was allowed to look inside this bag.  When the owner died, they were buried with it.

This is my Dream Bag: with visible reference to my daydreams (turquoise fox fetish) & my night dreams (black onyx fox fetish) strung along this beaded strand!  Tucked inside, of my eyes only, are the magical powers significant to me.  True to native tradition, I will be buried with this. 

Kinship Strand: White Fox

This strand features: a vintage hand carved Mother of Pearl Fox Fetish with a black onyx eye, seed beads in the colors of red, white, blue & sky.

Raven Goddess features: A hand carved Balinese buffalo bone pendant with the images of Raven (with a black Onyx eye), Goddess, & Wolf! Natural turquoise chunks & slices, Nepali Conch Shell beads in pure white, Antique African Glass beads in red, seed beads in Jet, Nickel beads, and a lobster claw closure.

This necklace measures 22" long (drop length 10") with a pendant that is 2 6/8" long. Gorgeous!
